If you have been following from my last update; Assignment 5.1, I had come up with a way to tackle the 3 gaps that I was facing the most difficulty with in designing and implementing an Ipod Bike carrier.

They were;

The bike must have retractable gadgets for repair and maintenance.

The bike can handle a degree of bumps, jumps, and rough terrain.

The bike has take-away pieces to increase agile functionality.

In my last update I had incorporated a combination of my concepts into a single testing prototype. The concepts I combined were the use of a cord straps, elastics, duct tape, and Velcro straps to fasten the Ipod to the bike. However, I suffered numerous draw backs, both aesthetically speaking and in the ability of Velcro to hold the Ipod in place within the carrier ... so I went back to the drawing board and decided to take a more holistic approach.

Introducing the Alpha stage artifact.

In this stage I re-thought the use of a pre-bought ipod protection cover, and an old night light bike light I had broken that had the attachment parts still in working order.  I found that attaching the fastener detachment to the back of protection case with a screw-driver replaced the need for Velcro and Elastics in my last design and produced a level of durability in handling bumps, jumps, and rough terrain. I also was able to incorporate "take-away" piecing by taking advantage of the removable attachment parts of the light detachment lock.
